Why wont my power button or knock on trigger the lock screen to appear?

I've had my G4 for about two weeks now. It just did another update and now I'm having an intermittent issue with the lock screen not appearing. I'll press the power button but it does nothing, double pressed still nothing, holding it does nothing as well. I just learned about the knock on option and it's the same problem with that. I tried a few different reboots without doing a hard reset and its still acting up. It's not been dropped, sat on, stepped on, slammed, exposed to water, or too much heat. Is this an update issue? Or is my device broken?
