Why are key Android media files showing as empty when I connect my Galaxy S5 to my PC via USB?

A

AC Question

1. All pics and video show up fine on the phone, using either My Files, Gallery, or Camera.

2. I'm Connected as Media Device (MTP.) Connected as Camera (PTP) shows same folders, but all are empty.

3. Two folders show up in My Computer with two subfolders
- SAMSUNG_Android - Card
- Data
- Media
- SAMSUNG_Android - Phone
- Data
- Media

7. Android-Card
- Data: empty
- Media: shows various MP4 files, most dated 2/21/2015, one dated 12/10/2015. Also shows Android, DCIM, and LOST.DIR files, with unrecognizable icon, all 0KB.

8. Android- Phone
- Data: empty
- Media: shows 18 folders or files, unrecognizable icons, including Android, BeamMemo, DCIM, Download, Pictures, Playlists, etc, to yahoo. All are empty, 0 KB. Dated from 12/21/2015 to present day. DCIM folder last night 3AM.

What is going on? I've never had this problem before, have downloaded lots of pics and videos for over a year with the exact same setup. Well maybe i didn't have the SD card, come to think of it. But still.
