Nexus 5x vs Moto X Pure(style)

I was recently looking at these two devices to purchase for a family member but I'm not sure which one to get.

Which one do you think I should get. It will mostly be used for social messaging, taking photos and the odd App game here and there.

What would they prefer? Larger or smaller phone, USB type C or micro USB. And do they care about dual front speakers, fingerprint scanner or microSD?
