need help changing a text setting?

Ok, I was getting weird texts from unknown numbers. I happened upon an article/post about changing a setting so that the text dosen't automatically download. And so i followed the steps and now almost every text comes through as a download that I have to open, click on to download, exit, then go back and open ahain to view. The parameters for which download automatically & others done manually is quite skewed. A group-text someone sent out for the holiday didn't need to be downloaded & not one single number in it is in my contacts. Yet, my 10 siblings & I are in a group-text regarding one of my sisters in the hospital &every single one I have to open, download, exit, reopen!!!
Anyway, I can't remember how I did it. I thought I could remember if I just took the time &explored. I tried. No can do! Please help me b4 I lose my marbles!! Thanks!

Hi, & Welcome to Android Central Forums!.

Try this:

Goto: Setting>Device>Applications>Application Manager>Scroll over to "ALL">Scroll Down to Messages, Clear Data & Clear Cache

Reboot and see if that helps!

I did as you suggested. Now I just have to get someone to txt me but its almost midnight, haha. I'll update when I know the results.
