Android taking 12 GB of internal storage.

When I tried to update apps in my Htc One M8 I dind't have enough space so i checked the storage and i said that the System is taking almost 12 GB. My phone is running on stock Android 6.0, sense 7. I've heard that it should take max 8 gb.. I can provide screenshots and more details. Does anyone know how to fix that issue? Should i reset my phone, will it even help?

My LG V10 shows almost 12gb for system as well so it may be close to correct.

Have you tried clearing cache to free up space?

Here's the thing, too: System is on a different partition than anything you have access to for apps and pics and the like.
