S voice on S7 not finding contacts

I just got my new samsung galaxy S7. I cannot get the S Voice app to function correctly. I went through the initial setup and i believe it worked once to send a text with voice activation but now it keeps saying it cannot find said contact and then fails. i have hard reset my phone three times already and i cant figure it out

Are you sure the contact is there that you want to send to?

I have this too on S6 edge since new update. S voice is not looking at any other contact list - microsoft exchange etc. It is only looking to device contact list

Nope, even trying to call a number that I know is on the device contact list didn't work. This was working until I allowed the latest firmware upgrade - clearly that has broken it........ FFS
