How to connect a jvc tv (model AV-32S585) to an RCA android 10" pro edition tablet?

I bought the proper cable (standard hdmi to mini hdmi) and selected the proper input on t.v. and nothing happens. The hdmi is selected on tablet also.

Welcome to Android Central! How old is the TV? Older TVs may not be compatible. Do you have any other TVs or monitors with HDMI input you could try? Or maybe bring it to your local Best Buy or Target store and ask if you can test it out on one of their TVs (tell them you're shopping for a new TV, and have to see if this works).
