samsung galaxy s5 setup wizard sim setup

I bought a verizon active samsung galaxy s5 from a guy he said it was jail broken but when checked it it was still active with account and everything one it wasnt active no more like calling and the data i wanted to factory rest it but before i could it asked for a samsung account password since i didnt no it i tryed master factory reset it When i first master factory reset it ,it was with the verizon sim and the setup wizard said the sim was active gave me the phones number but still asked for the samsung account password to continue , the second time i factory reset it without the sim and the setup wizard came up but this time it said sim not installed or installed wrong and needed sim for activation can i buy a diiferent company sim and activate it that way since i heard that verizon sims arent locked and i can just switch carriers without unlocking it .
