Is there a smart watch that could work off next door's internet? (outgoing calls)

A

AC Question

My very active 96 yr old grandma lives alone w/ family in 3 different houses w/in a block. She sometimes has a hard time getting up out of the bath & other pinches she gets in that she can't get the phone to call for help. Yes, I know there's life alert & others but why use them with family right door. Is there a device she could wear that w/ a couple pushes of a button she can single one of the members of family to come help real quick?

Welcome to the forums. As I understand it (and I will admit, I can very well be wrong), the smartwatches that can make phone calls need to have a SIM card in them. They can't use wifi to do this.

As far as I know that is correct as well... Although adding a watch to your account is pretty inexpensive compared to a phone... Verizon is only $5 a month.....
