Why does sound play through speaker after phone call?

When I'm listening to something on headphones and I get a phone call, I unplug the headphones to take the call. After the call, whatever I was listening to continues playing through the speaker. And to make matters worse, the volume buttons don't work, the phone is locked and it takes some time to get the sound stopped. How do I prevent the music from continuing. I'm really tired of my co-workers getting a blast of NSFW music from me every time i take a phone call.

Hi, the music pauses to allow the call to come through, once you have finished the call the music will resume. Since you are removing the headphones to answer the call the phone will play music through the speaker as that's the only output for the music. Can't you answer the call with the headphones on or buy compatible earphones.
