Can the moisture sensor in a Galaxy 7 be defective?

A

AC Question

I purchased a Galaxy 7 5 days ago for my vacation. I placed the water resistant phone in water (NOT fully submerged) for not more than 3 seconds and then dried it off. I went to charge it about 5 hours later and the phone blocked charging because it detected moisture in the charging port. Its now been 4 days and the phone has since died, and still not responding to a charging cord in the port. I do not have a wireless charger. Can the sensor be reset by a factory reset? I doubt that will work with a dead battery! Please help.
