How mobile apps are regulated and verified for security before deploying or publishing them on their respective app stores.

Mobile apps are supposed to pass preliminary checks to ensure that they are safe to be downloaded and they work only as promised. Meaning, they should only have access to data that they ask permission for etc. How is this process carried out?

You can give Google's app process a look and see if your answer is in there.
