In my settings under security I find a section titled Trusted Credentials.
What part do these play in the security of the phone and what are the possible consequences of Un ticking the boxes alongside the individual credentials.
I have to sometimes tap on "clear credentials" in order to access changes in my screen lock selection list as some of them are faded out with a message added underneath about administrator rights blocking the choice of one or two of the screen lock selections and the only way to get the restriction removed is to go into Settings. Security. Credential storage. And then tap Clear all credencials

Yes, Clearing Credentials in order to change a security method is normal procedure.
