I keep receiving old emails on my S7? How can I stop this?

I receive emails in my inbox that have been read over 2 weeks ago.

Make sure the server (and the app in the phone) is set to IMAP, not POP3. With a POP3 account, you're only deleting the messages on the phone - they stay on the server. With IMAP, reading or deleting on the phone does the same thing on the server.
