I just inherited an Android cellphone from my son. It is an Onyx, Android version 5.0, model number AAP453G-1015

It has a very nasty trojan on it, which I can't get rid of, with anything, including Malwarebytes, and various 'stubborn trojan remover apps' downloaded from Google Play Store.

    Nothing works.

A Malwarebytes scan says 'your device has issues', then when I select 'fix now' it shows the problem, being ..

Then when I confirm I want to delete the item, the only thing that comes up is

'do you want to uninstall this app?'

Selecting yes results in 'Uninstall 'Unsuccessful'

I have done a factory re-set three times, and every time, it is still there. I have removed the SD card, changed sim card .. all to no avail.

How do I get rid of this .. PLEASE ???

When Factory Resetting, did you uncheck/untick Automatic Restore?
If the cause of the trouble has got system-deep, it may be necessary to reflash the stock ROM.

Hello, belodion and thank you for trying to help.

    Yes, I unchecked Automatic Restore.

Yes, it does seem to be system-deep. What does 'reflash the stock ROM' mean, and how do I do that please ?

It means doing a fresh install of the Operating System. To do that you would need to connect your phone to a PC or laptop. Do you wish to continue? If so we may be able to guide you further.

Read this to get some idea of what is involved, though it refers to Samsung devices:

Yes, thank you - I want to continue.

I have two computers. One Windows 7 laptop and one Linux Mint 17.3 desktop. Would much prefer to do the process on the Linux, as my business info is on the W7 laptop, and I don't want to risk corrupting that. But will do it on that if I have to.

    Please guide me further

PS - I read the links and they were a bit beyond my paygrade.

I'm sorry, now that I look, I can find very little about your device. I recommend searching in XDA Forums, whose members are good at these things.
The manufacturer's customer support site may also be able to help.
