How can I stop sound on Texts from certain people?

I get annoyed when a group text comes over the phone and multiple people keep answering each other and the sound keeps going off especially when I'm working or sleeping How can I set the phone so only certain people will sound my phone when their text comes in and not the others. I heard the iPhone you can do the segregation or certain people. Help

Welcome to the forums! What phone do you have and what messaging app are you using? Do you mean SMS? Most stock apps don't include this option and you'll need to use a third party messaging app.
