I am going to purchase a new phone soon in the $300-$400 rang. I'm using Ting as a carrier so I need a device that supports t-Mobile's band 12. My leading contenders are the nexus 5x and the moto x pure edition. I like the size of the 5x better than the X PE but I think I would use the extra software features of X PE. I new to smartphones so any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks Charlie

    Hi Charlie,

It's a tough decision, I've had the pleasure of using both devices, if I had to choose I would go for the Nexus 5x.

If regular updates are important to you then the 5x is the best choice, as Google will continue to support the 5x long after Lenovo will support the Moto x pe.

However the Moto X does come with more features like Moto assist and is more or less stock Android, like the 5x.

It really comes down to what is more important to you:

Nexus 5x for regular updates and newer device (by a couple of months)
Moto X pe for more added features on top of stock android.

p.s. the camera is better on the 5x imo.
