what do i do to upgrade my acer a500 tablet os from 4.0.3 to kitkat or higher?

I have read that I can download an upgrade from the Acer support site to an SD card.
I have an SD card already mounted on my tablet. Can I download the upgrade zip file directly to the tablets SD card?

Sure. Where you download it doesn't matter, where it is when you install it matters. If it has to be installed from a PC, just move it, or put the SD card into the PC.

I doubt it. My Acer A500 is running 4.0.1 and that's as far as it's going to go according to Acer's main download site. I wouldn't mind 4.3 but it's a no-go.

If you did see an upgrade, make sure of your tablet. Acer sold a W500 which ran Windows. People got them confused all the time.
