Back up before a factory reset to remove encryption

A

AC Question

Galaxy 5 SM-G900A is encrypted. I have backed up to the SD card and my google email account.

Will I be able to use these back ups to reset contacts, calendar, and app settings or are they encrypted also?

Can I take the SD card out, reset and replace the SD card with the backups and use them/it?

I have tried unsuccessfully to back up to a PC but the phone acts like it will not back up to anything but the SD or google? Am I just not performing the phone-to-PC correctly or is this a feature to protect the encrypted phone?

Thanks for any help offered. Dave.

The backups are most likely encrypted, so unless you don't change anything on the phone, they're probably useless. (Try to read the backup files in a PC. .xls are human readable, even if you can't understand what they mean. Encrypted files are just a jumble of characters.
