MOTO G 6.0 - internal formatted SD card unencrypted, and internal memory invisible?

A

AC Question

I have a moto G 3rd gen with 16gb internal memory. When I upgraded to 6.0 I bought a 32gb sd card to use as internal storage and this seemed to set up fine. I then went to ecnrypt my device which also seemed to go fine.

However now when I look at my phone on my PC via USB all I see is an SD card of 29.4GB, no internal memory. In addition to this, the files are easily readable and can be copied which I wouldn't expect if it had been encrypted properly. Does anyone know what's going on !!!???

Many Thanks

Adoptable storage - totally different. Your 16GB of internal storage is still there.

The PC can't read encrypted storage.

If they're "encrypted" by just being hidden, Windows doesn't see that, so the files are visible. (Windows and Linux are opposites - encrypting a file on Linux usually doesn't do anything if you're looking at it in Windows.)
