How do I transfer apps to the card to make room on the tablet?

The new Marshmallow update changed the way that SD storage works. Now I have no room available on the device and nothing will transfer to the card. When I inserted the card, no opion was given to format my card.The SD card will not give me the choice to use as permanent or temporary storage in the LG X 8.3 tablet. Now what?

The card is probably set as adoptable storage - Android decides what goes where, you have no choice.
