Can't find any files that have stuff I've downloaded

Does anyone know if I have to specifically transfer or back up files myself, if I reset your phone?
Are they gone, or can I find them if I backed up my files before the reset?

Welcome to Android Central! Can you clarify what your main issue is? Your title asks about things you've downloaded, but the body of your post asks about backing up files and resetting your phone.

If you reset your phone, any local data is wiped. If you backed up your local data manually somewhere on your computer or in the cloud, that data should still be there. If you synced your data to your Google account, that data will sync automatically back to the phone once you log back into the account--but not all 3rd party app data gets synced to Google.
