How do I change the setting for the audio jack from zoom to shutter when selfie stick is plugged in?

I bought a new selfie stick. Never had one before. It is a Spigen with wired remote shutter button. When I plug the wire into the ear phone jack, the button causes the camera to zoom in. How do I change it so I can take a picture?
