I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. Every now and then I will lose the use of my ASTERIK KEY for no apparent reason. When I try to use it all that happens is I get a space. What causes this and how can I fix it because I can't seem to get it to function?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the stock Samsung Keyboard app, or a 3rd party app? Does this happen with other keyboards, like Google Keyboard or SwiftKey?

I am assuming it is the stock keyboard for the S3. It will do everything but make an asterik. When you use the asterik it just makes a space. I must have hit/done something because it had worked fine before but this has happened once before but I have no idea what made it work properly again.

Go to the App Manager, select Samsung Keyboard, and Clear Cache. Now see if it still happens. I would also still recommend installing a 3rd party keyboard as well to see if it happens there.

Cleared the cache but no luck. What is the best keyboard app available for a S3?

Give Google Keyboard a try. The latest version includes some significant improvements, like one-handed mode.
