I have been getting popup ads for a few weeks now. At the time when it started I did not install any new aps. The ads appear as a banner and take me to google play to install a random app.

You get those from infected websites, usually. Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware first (let it run to completion, which could take a day or two), then run Avast Mobile Security & Antivirus or some other good antivirus and let it run to completion.

    ESET Mobile Security & Antivirus

Oh. it was Hiddak.AK Trojan on my android phone… that was causing full screen ad on home screen, whenever WiFi or Data connection was opened or whenever an new app was installed or uninstalled and installing new apps randomly without asking..

ESET Mobile Security & Antivirus was able to detect it by using Deep Scanning option..

It was hidden under the Service “ Android Communication Sync” .. watch out for this process in your phone
