I cannot unlock my Samsung S6 which was fingerprint protected, can you please help me!

My phone is now asking me this question Enter password instead of using fingerprint recognition after restarting device to protect fingerprint

Under Android 6.0 password/PIN/Pattern unlock is required at start-up and (at least with Nexus device) every 48 hours without a restart instead of fingerprint unlock. Password/PIN/pattern Lock should have been required before setting up fingerprint.
