Is It safe to jump from android 4.42 up to 6.01? (Stock frmwares)

I have a Samsung Galaxy SM-G900F. Had recently been playing around with different custom roms and got a problem where it randomly reboots, through all roms tried while also rebooting in safe mode and with a different battery. eventually decided to flash stock firmware tried the very latest Marsmallow which stuck at boot. So tried earliest and hoped, original firmware4.42, which worked. will the latest firmware now flash over the top or do you have to flash 5.0 in between?
