Unlocked phone - Configuration update always showing up
Hello
I unlocked my phone a few days ago and changed carrier. Is it normal for an unlocked phone to try to update non stop? I got a "configuration update" notification always showing up since. It says "the latest update has already been installed". If I clear the notification, it comes back a few hours later or at startup if I reboot.
Finally, I don't know much about unlocked phones. Can you still update your IOS?
Thank you
Re: Unlocked phone - Configuration update always showing up
I found out it's coming from an app called OMC. Does anybody knows what it is? I can't disable it or unclick the "show notifications" box.
Re: Unlocked phone - Configuration update always showing up
Welcome to Android Central1 Which phone do you have? It's not an iPhone, is it? I ask because you mentioned iOS.
OMC might be OverDrive Media Console. Do you have OverDrive installed (usually used to check out eBooks from your library)? If so, uninstall it and see if the error message persists.
Carrier-specific phones usually have to be on that carrier in order to receive OTA system updates. If you unlock it and use it on a different carrier, you won't get the OTA. Depending on the phone, you might be able to update it manually using a computer-based sync program (like Samsung Smart Switch, HTC Sync, LG Bridge, etc.).

Thanks for your response.
My phone is a Galaxy S5 Neo. I don't have OverDrive installed so that's not the issue unfortunately.

It might be com.sec.android.omc, which presumably has something to do with security. But my Google Fu isn't good enough to figure out what exactly it's for.:(
