How do i turn off Safe mode?

On the bottom left corner of my phone, it has a little black square that says "Safe mode" and on the top of my phone it says "safe mode is enabled tap here to turn off safe mode" and so i click it and it says your phone will shut off or whatever and you will be able to use your app's again. But when i do it, it just restarts and opens with the safe mode on again. I searched on Google how to fix it and all that i tried has not worked. PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you tried turning your phone off and on again? That should boot it normally, rather than in safe mode.

Turning off and turning it on again should take it out of Safe Mode as Laura Knotek said.
Are you using a Xperia Z or M. I remember reading somewhere about similar issues with those devices.
Try holding the power and volume down(or up) button till it restarts.
