Android Auto not connecting with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5

[AC Question]

I have recently purchased a 2016 Volkswagen Passat that comes with ability to connect via Android Auto. I was able to establish a connection for a second and then it immediately disconnected. Verizon wireless is my carrier for my SG5, my husband has the same phone running on lollipop 5 and is able to connect with no problem. However I have never been able to connect, so I tried updating my software to Marshmallow 6 and I still can't connect. I have tried everything I can think of, USB debugging, picking USB file transfer as well with no avail. Has anybody else had this problem?
