Messages app cache wont clear

[AC Question]

I've been having trouble with sending and receiving text messages for most of this year. Random texts won't send or come and I don't know until the other person says something about it. AT&T has told me to clear my messages app cache but it will only clear to 52kb. It's been doing that for a month now. Any suggestions on what may actually be my problem or how to clear the cache??
