Getting message login failed

[AC Question]

I messed around with Google not knowing what I was doing or how I got there. I got am email saying I had to change my password. No I am not getting my emails and the message login failed. How can I get back to where I started and get my emails. There seems to be two email addresses xx.xxxxxxx@gmail.com which I don't use and xx.xxxxxxx@gmail.com which I do use. Please help.

Google ignores periods in email addresses, so ab.cd.ef.gh@gmail.com is the same as abcdefgh@gmail.com is the same as abcd.ef.g.h@gmail.com.
