Why are none of my old photos showing up in the gallery app on my Galaxy S7?

A

AC Question

I've been using my S7 camera happily for the past couple weeks and now I've encountered an extremely irritating problem with the gallery. All the photos I took before the 19th of this month have inexplicably vanished from the Gallery app on my S7. The photos are still on the phone (I can view them through QuickPic), but they don't show up in the Gallery app that came with the phone, or other apps like Instagram and the stock file browser. It seems as far as the Gallery app is concerned, the photos don't exist on the phone. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?

It's especially frustrating because I can't edit any of the awesome underwater slow mo videos I took on my vacation, since you can only open the slow mo video editor through the gallery app.
