Can I treat my SD card as internal storage?

I know my tablet that's KitKat 4.4.2 does this by itself, but my phone, that's 4.4.4 version for some reason does not. Is there some way to force the phone to simply accept the SD card as internal storage? (I don't mean installing to it by default, I already know how to do that)
