Samsung Tab S 10" WiFi only software update

[AC Question]

The update downloaded automatically and every few days it pops up on its own ready to install, so due to past irreversible sad results with a Note 10 to Jellybean, I've not allowed it for over a year. Seems what's missing is the carrot, but there's plenty of bleeding on forums from the stick. Where can I see what this will do before I lock myself into another lemon-they let you test drive a car-why not software? And where is the update hiding on my Tab? Can't find it in downloads? And is there any way to know if I can turn off the irritating auto-zooming in when entering text, which obscures part of the page!
