New cell, third party

[AC Question]

We have always been with Verizon as a carrier for our cell phones and bought new ones from them. To save money I would like to purchase a phone (droid) from Amazon rather than Verizon. I do not need the newest phone and will keep it until it doesn't work. Do you recommend this? What steps do I need to take? Thanks

Welcome to the forums. If you are buying a device that is for Verizon (the entire Droid line is), it shouldn't be a big deal. I think you need to call or visit Verizon to get the phone activated on your account, but other than that, it shouldn't be an issue.
