Why wont my phone turn off?

I keep trying to turn it on but it keeps flashing the little home button and when I keep trying to turn it on it will show the lg logo and the the screen will go blank again. Its very frustrating

Sorry the title and message are conflicting. If you want to turn it on I recommend plugging in to your phone charger first just incase the battery is very low. Give 10 minutes or so on charger before attempting to start it up. Also what model of LG phone do you have?

Welcome to Android Central! I agree with BattleSwine, but would recommend keeping it plugged into a wall outlet undisturbed for at least 4 hours before trying to power it on, in case the battery is significantly drained.
