I backed up my phone (s6) using samsung smartswitch. I then gave the phone in for a service, which involved a new mainboard so the phone is as new now.

While the phone was being serviced I used an old phone, loaded up whatsapp, and then (stupidly!!) did not restore from my google drive backup as I was only using it for a couple of days. I realise now that this action caused my google drive backup to delete.

But no matter, I should still have the local backup. I restored the phone using smartswitch, but my whatsapp chats are not there (although all the images are). I have googled this, and I hear that I need to find the Databases folder within Whatsapp. It seems however that there is no Database folder in my phone following a restore from smartswitch.

    Am I buggered!?!?

Unfortunately yes. Without the database not much can be done.
