Can I use my SIM card from my old phone in any other android I buy?

A

AC Question

My phone is wrecked beyond repair. If I buy a new phone, would putting my SIM card into it give me everything my old phone had (Data plan, number, contacts, etc)? If so, would I have to purchase the same phone, or could I do it with any phone?

hard to say... do you have a full sized SIM, Micro SIM, or Nano SIM? Also depends on carrier for data plan and number. Your Gmail account should have backup of your contacts.

Assuming the SIM fits (or you have an adapter), contacts only get moved if they're stored as Google contacts. Device, Phone and SIM contacts don't. Your number and data plan will. You can do it with any phone (and I don't man "within reason" - I just popped my SIM into a V551 - ca 2004 - to see if it worked. It did. (Long story, but hospitals aren't responsible for phones.)
