Welcome to the forums. If the watch doesn't have it's own SIM card slot, then it works off bluetooth. At that point, you are using a different radio, and what carrier you have is irrelevant.
This watch DOES have a SIM slot... I have a freedompop SIM and this watch but so far no luck getting it to connect...
As a followup, if you go the FREE route, the FreedomPop sim will only allow you to do data from the watch, no calls, no sms. This would be great but about all you are going to do is read notification from Facebook, as the browser is just too small, and it is too hard to type to send messages out.
If you get a paid option, then it is fully functional.
To get data working, what you have to do is manually choose AT&T (don't use Automatic) and then you need to configure the APN the same way as you would for Android.
The watch is a really great toy, and the hardware is great, but the software is just lacking. You are much better off pairing with a phone.
Tried everything I could find in order to get the Freedompop sim to work in my DZ09 smartwatch. All I could get was emegency call capability with correct APN settings. Freedompop tech says the card will not work except in an unlocked GSM android phone.
Wasted time and money!???????????
From what I understand of freedompop, you have to be able to install their app on the device to use the sim. i am not certain if this is possible on smart watches.
