samsung galaxy s6 edge plus wont let me tap on screen

my samsung s6 edge doesn't recognise when I tap or type. I can't get into it because it tells me i need to enter my password and I can't switch it off because I need to touch the screen to confirm. As far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with the screen and everything comes up as it should but just cant type. HELP!

Try holding Power and Volume Down for half a minute or so, as a simulated battery pull.
