Why is my touch screen going crazy?

I have a Lg optimus pro, and it has a crack through the top of the screen an the top left corner is broken. I can hardly use the phone because either the touch screen fails to work or it goes crazy with whatever it wants to do. Is there any way to fix this without spending an arm and leg?

The phone going crazy is a result of the screen being broken. Take it to a repair shop or try fix it yourself.
