software still on 5.01

I have just purchased a mot 360 1st generation. I think the watch is great however the software is still running 5.01. It tells me it is up to date. I have tried forcing an update by resetting the moto and reinstalling android wear but with no luck. I also can't get the navigate function to work. It is greyed out in android wear so I can't assign an app. Moto support have been no help and tell me that the software updates are being released in phases. I would have thought that the roll out would have completed by now as 6.1 has been available for 6 months.
