Why does my Samsung Galaxy s6 edge have gray and white lines on the screen

Hello, this issue happened overnight when the phone was working perfectly. As I woke up I noticed that my whole screen on my galaxy s6 edge consisted go gray and white horizontal lines. The phone has never been dropped, has had a screen protector since day one and always has a case on. Does anybody know what the issue is or how to fix it? The phone itself will not shut down or do anything except show those lines. I waited until the phone died so that it can shut down and reset itself but as I plug it in the charger the screen comes on with the gray and white horizontal lines covering the screen starts again.
