In terms of processor, both the S6 and Note5 use the same SoC; an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 with 4 Cortex A57s clocked at 2.1GHz for performance and 4 Cortex A53s clocked at 1.5GHz for efficiency. This is paired to an ARM Mali T760MP8 GPU.

Both phones currently run Android 6.0.1 "Marshmallow" with Samsung's "TouchWiz" layer on top. As both phones have the same processing package, performance should be identical.

However, the Note5 has an advantage in 2 areas. The Galaxy Note5 features 4GB of LPDDR4 memory, while the S6 has 3GB of LPDDR4, while the Note5 also has a significantly larger 3000mAh battery, while the S6 makes do with a 2550mAh cell.

Overall, I would say the Note5 is the better pick, especially due to its larger battery and extra memory.
