my LG3 will not send texts

no bars on phone when there has been good reception in the past. this has been going on for 3-4 weeks, My husband has good reception on his phone.
What am I missing?

Hello,
Do not go by bars on your device for you signal strength. All phones are digital now and all you are seeing is a graphic representation that is a pretty good indicator of reception. However, the best way to know your signal strength is measured in dbm. A -90dbm is a better signal then say a -100dbm.
When you are over -105, then you are in a very poor area.

On your LG, go to Settings>About Phone>Network> Network type and strength. This will indicate your 4g and 1x signals.
Your carrier may have problems in the area. If signal strength is poor you can only receive calls as there isn't enough for data transfer. Call your carrier and see if there are reported problems in your area too.
