Does HTC One M8 mobile app for YouTube Use HTML5 for playback?

Ever since the phone (bought in 2014) was updated to android "marshmallow ?" YouTube starts for half a second then tells me sorry there was a problem please try again.
This problem has been reported many times by HTC users.
