do i need to clean my phone before putting a screen protector if i havent removed it from the start?

i got nexus 4 and it came with a screen protector/sticker on it (with the plus/minus and power butten little icons) and i just got a new glass screen protector, so when i remove the screen protector on my phone (for the first time in all the time i have this phone) should i clean it or is it better sticking it quickly without touching it?

and just a random thougt of my head, do you think activating a vacum cleaner facing upwards from where i put the screen protector will make sure no dust specs will settle on it while im doing the finishis?

It might, but it might also suck dust in from a wider area, some of which could settle on the screen. I don't use that method myself. Good illumination so that you can see any specks of dust is helpful. Also, I use a concertina-like pump - I'm not sure of its original use - with a tube and nozzle, good for blasting away any specks. An empty, dry squeezy bottle would do.
