How do I download pictures & videos from my Samsung Galaxy S6 to my computer?

I have the phone connected directly to the computer. Computer recognized and successfully loaded the "new Hardware. When I click on "open" or "download" from Samsung, it says nothing in file?

If you have an SD card in your phone, you could try to take it out and put it into an adaptor and put it into your computer. Or if they're backed up in Google Photos, you can go to www.google.com and click on the 9 dots in the upper right hand corner and then click on photos.
