i know someone who is looking to switch phone companies to save money, but they wont let her trade in her current phone with it having a crack on the back glass. she was advised to try and sell it for the remaining balance owed on the phone or try to get Verizon to give her a warranty replacement phone. if she is able to convince Verizon to send her the replacement, can she be billed for a new phone if they check to see her original is working properly?? has anyone had a situation like this??

Is she seeking a replacement because of a manufacturing defect?

@sfoLAX: My first thought on seeing this thread was 'Be completely honest and up-front about it'. As you say, unless defective, an exchange is exceedingly unlikely.
